CLASS PROFILE: POUND FITNESS

Pound Fitness® burst onto the NO MORE EXCUSES INC scene with a bang last spring, and has been making some serious noise ever since! In fact, we've been so loud that CTV is sending in a media crew tomorrow at 515pm to interview us and tape one of our amazing classes? For those of you who are new to Pound Fitness® , here's an overview of what the all the buzz is about!

POUND® IS THE WORLD'S FIRST CARDIO JAM SESSION INSPIRED BY THE INFECTIOUS, ENERGIZING AND SWEAT-DRIPPING FUN OF PLAYING THE DRUMS.

Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND® transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out.

Instead of listening to music, you become the music in this exhilarating full-body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilates-inspired movements.

Designed for all fitness levels, POUND® provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rockin’ out! The workout is easily modifiable and the alternative vibe and welcoming philosophy appeals to men and women of all ages and abilities.

APPROPRIATE FOR: All fitness levels. Note: Some activities occur on the floor. Alternative positions are available. Please discuss with your instructor if you have any concerns with getting up and down from the mats. Note: Persons who have shoulders injuries or a history of shoulder pain should discuss this program with the instructor prior to beginning the work out. 

IMPACT LEVEL:  In general, the impact level with Pound® is low, with the occasional high impact option. All songs provide easy modifications to reduce impact levels as needed. 

BEST SUITED FOR: People who are looking for a seriously good time while getting a serious total body work out. 

EQUIPMENT NEEDED: When you arrive to class you will be provided with Ripstix®, a mat, and the option of a bender ball to allow for easy modification during mat tracks. 

QUICK TIPS: Remember that it can take a few classes to get to know the choreography and feel comfortable with the Riptstix®. It is always okay to take things at your own pace, even if it means going more slowly or changing movements to work with your body and your ability level.  Some of these movements require deep squatting and hip hinge motions- modifiers are available and your instructor will be able to provide you with the necessary equipment and tips to get the best out of your work out. 

CHECK IT OUT: Mondays at 515pm with Zita; Wednesdays at 7:15pm with Rita and Nada; Thursdays at 830pm with Kaylin; and as part of the hybrid Cardio Party Class on Friday mornings (930am), Friday evenings (6pm) and Sundays (515pm) with Zita.
