About our Therapist and her Services:

Hala Kaiss is a Registered Psychologist in Alberta and holds a Masters of Counselling Degree through City University of Seattle. For the last three years, she has been working as a Counsellor at the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE), providing trauma therapy to men and women who have experienced sexual violence. Working in this role, she has gained experience working with a number of different issues including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, boundary issues, self-esteem & self-worth, childhood abuse, healthy sexuality, disordered eating patterns, and self-awareness/identity.

Prior to beginning her career as a therapist, Hala was always involved in the fitness industry. She began as a group fitness instructor at the young age of 16, and has never looked back! She taught group fitness classes at numerous clubs throughout the city and still continues to coach group fitness part-time. An avid fitness enthusiast herself, she knows firsthand the importance and benefits of keeping the body moving and healthy. In her therapeutic work, she emphasizes the connection between mind and body. She believes in the necessity of addressing self-limiting belief systems when striving to reach one’s full potential.

I believe that as humans, we all have the capacity to move towards healing. Counselling provides a safe space in which to do so as it can be challenging to both let go and accept certain parts of ourselves and our story. I follow a client-centered approach and view you as being the expert in your life. I primarily utilize cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), feminist therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness, in my practice. From the moment we meet, we will work in a collaborative manner to address your concerns and achieve your goals. I look forward to connecting with you.
