This is Jaydon. I had the pleasure of meeting him, his family and his wonderful community of Duffield, who all came together on Thursday to show support and love while he is battling recently diagnosed brain cancer. He has already undergone several major surgeries and will soon begin chemotherapy and radiation treatment and faces another major surgery in November. He has been given a 10% chance of surviving - He is my hero !!!
I'm not afraid to take a stand
Everybody come take my hand
We'll walk this road together, through the storm
Whatever weather, cold or warm
Just letting you know that you're not alone
“Not Afraid” – Eminem
(Jayden Donald’s favourite song)
This is what was written on the school's website:
"The event kicked off with an upbeat Zumba warm up, led by instructor Cheryl Schneider and the Duffield Girls’ Volleyball Teams. As the school danced along to the likes of “Gangnam Style” and “What Does the Fox Say?”, Schneider offered up warm words of encouragement for all the participants, and especially for Jayden and his family. Schneider wrapped up her Zumba session with a rousing and emotional rendition of K’naan’s “Wavin’ Flag”, and the whole field of people joined in - when I get older, I will be stronger..."
I held it together until I turned around and saw the tears and pain in his family's eyes - they were overcome with so much emotion at the end of the song.
